【Weather Conditions】

January and February were dry and even in the mountains there was little snow. 
Fortunately, a wet March allowed the vines to begin their growth cycle. 
April, May and June beat all previous records for sunshine and dryness: temperatures were 3°C higher than the 10 year average. 
April and May were the driest and sunniest since 1959. July was wet (twice the usual average rainfall) and cool. 
August has been and warm with the occasional, welcome, showers. The harvest has started with a sunny and cool weather …ideal conditions! 

【Vineyards and Wines】 

Since the start of the year, everything has been happening earlier. The budburst took place on the 3rd of April
(against the 7th of April which was the average date over the last 15 years) and the flowering was on the 17th of May (against the 1st of June). 
Sunshine hours from January to July were very high: 
- 20 year average – 1196 hours 
- 2009 – 1328 hours 

The grapes are fantastic: small black berries, very healthy and, unlike many regions, no rot… 
- The grapes have thick skins and good maturity 
- The number of bunches per vine is normal: 10,4 on average (but higher than in 2009) which leads to an expectation of a normal size harvest. 
- The maturity is superb, similar to 2009 but with a lower acidity (slightly lower than 2010, 2009 and 2007) which gives the prospect of more supple and concentrated wines with real keeping potential. 
- The anthocyanins (vegetal pigments) and colour indices are excellent, better even than in 2009. 
The wines will have a really good colour. 
Overall, a very early vintage with the harvest starting on the 24th August (13th September in 2010). 
It is even earlier than the fabulous 2009’s when the harvest started on the 27th August; only 
2003 has been earlier starting mid-August.

【 天氣概況】

1月與2月的天氣乾冷,山邊都還有一點積雪。 
3月很幸運地雨量充足,讓葡萄樹藤吸收足夠的水分供應整個生長週期。 
4月、5月、6月的「日照時數」與「乾燥程度」都超越了過往10年的平均值,
攝氏3度的平均溫較以往10年都來的高,今年4、5月的乾燥程度跟日照時數,
更是創下了從1959年以來的最高記錄。 

7月則是潮濕(雨量是以往平均值的二倍)且涼爽的天氣。 
8月溫暖,偶有降雨,採收期間的天氣狀況,對於當年的葡萄品質有著決定性的影響,
今年我們的採收在最完美的天氣狀態下進行『陽光普照、氣溫涼爽適中』。

【葡萄園 與 葡萄酒概況】

今年從一開始,在葡萄園中的每一步都比往年來的早。 
4月3日開始「抽芽」,比起過去15年平均發生在4月7日來的早,5月17日開始「開花」,
與往年大約在6月1日才開花也提早了十多天。 
日照時間從1月到7月都很長,過去20年平均時數為1196小時,2009年1328小時,今年高達1382小時。 

今年的葡萄狀況非常完美:果實小、果皮顏色深、不像其他受到黴菌侵襲的產區,這裡的葡萄相當健康。 
- 葡萄果皮厚、成熟度完好 
- 每個葡萄藤上的果串數量正常:平均約10.4串(較2009年高),代表可以預期今年的產量為正常量。 
- 葡萄擁有極佳的成熟度,很接近2009但酸度較低(與2010、2009、2007比起來酸度都低一些),
  代表著今年葡萄酒將會有著更圓潤集中的酒體,也更具陳年實力。 
- 葡萄的色素、顏色都很好,代表這今年的葡萄酒將會有很漂亮的酒色 ! 

今年的採收時間是8月24日,較往年提早許多(2010年於9月13日採收),甚至比傳奇的2009年份都
還要來的早(2009年於8月27日開始採收),只有2003年於8月中採收,稍微比今年早一些些。

【飲用建議 】

• 薄酒萊新酒應於稍為冰涼時飲用,約攝氏12-13度,這樣的新酒比在室溫中飲用會來得更為清爽,果味更為明顯。 
• 各式輕乳酪、三明治輕食小點、清爽海鮮料理、一般亞洲菜餚皆可,而太多油脂的牛羊肉則不太適合。
